Found the perfect combination but not ready to buy? Don’t throw it all away! You can secure your combination with a LayBy.

With no LayBy fees, and only a 20-25% deposit, it’s the most affordable way to buy the plates you’ve always wanted.

Depending on your plate design, you will have between 4-7 months to pay them off. Once you choose your plate design and combination using Create A Plate, choose the ‘LayBy’ option at checkout and you’re ready to roll!

Remember, you can make changes to an active LayBy at no extra cost before your final payment!

LayBys do not attract additional fees or charges, however if cancelled before you receive your chosen personalised plates or terminated at any time during the LayBy Agreement, PPQ will retain a termination charge of $100 and/or as specified in Item 6.

Simply click Create A Plate to select your combination, background and sizes. Choose the LayBy Plate option at the end, confirm your details and pay your deposit securely online. An email will be sent to you detailing alternate payment methods and your account details should you wish to continue paying your installments online. Please note that the combination may not be reserved until a deposit is received. Ongoing payments must be made at least once every 28 days, which is your sole responsibility. Please refer to to view the minimum payment amounts for specific plates.

Deposits and all ongoing payments can be made securely online using your unique account details which will be emailed to you when you request a LayBy. Payments can also be made over the phone by calling 136 356 using MasterCard, Visa or American Express cards. Alternatively payments can be made via the post by cheque or money order, or in person with cash at the PPQ office. Payments cannot be made by direct debit or BPAY, nor at Department of Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centres or Queensland motor dealers. Receipts will be emailed to your nominated email address, each one containing a summary of the LayBy as it currently stands.

If you have submitted an application for a LayBy, you will have received an email with your account and login details. If you have not received an email or have forgotten your login details, select the 'Forgot Password' option.

Layby Login

PPQ offers a convenient four (4) month LayBy option for orders under $1,700 and a seven (7) month LayBy option for orders in excess of $1,700. The date the deposit is received by PPQ becomes the LayBy commencement date. The LayBy Agreement, terms and conditions must be accepted to apply for a LayBy online, and a copy of this LayBy Agreement will be emailed for your reference on receipt of the deposit. If the LayBy is not applied for online, the emailed LayBy Agreement must be returned fully completed to PPQ within ten (10) days of the commencement date.

If you pay your final payment conveniently online, we recommend you ensure your LayBy and personalised plate order details are correct before you confirm the transaction. If you are paying by any other method, a PPQ representative will confirm your details with you. When your order is finalised and your final payment received, your personalised plates will be delivered within three (3) weeks.

Personalised Plates Queensland is charged fees by financial institutions when customers pay using the credit option. It has become standard business practice in government and industry that customers who choose to pay for services using the credit option incur a surcharge.

From 1 July 2013, credit card payment surcharge will be applicable on payments made with credit card. The business incurs fees from financial institutions when customers choose to pay for services using the credit option. MasterCard and Visa are 0.52% of the payment amount plus applicable GST, and American Express is 1.4% of the payment amount plus applicable GST. The surcharge will be added to total transaction amount.
