The rare and limited plates that go under the hammer are in demand from collectors, and attract a great deal of attention from the media and public alike. On 24th March 2010 the most recent Collector Plate Auction was held in the beautiful surrounds of Brisbane's Victoria Park Golf Complex. The historic Q70 stole the show at $80,000, with other Q Plates, a few select seven-character combinations and some other rarities such as BNE01, YY and V also up for grabs. There was even some friendly competition between the trades (BUILDER / PLUMBER) as well as a classic city (NEWFARM) versus coast (SURFERS) rivalry.
